Etisalat launches virtual boardrooms in Dubai
Telepresence service available to link businesses around the globe
UAE companies will now be able to have virtual board meetings with colleagues around the world with the introduction this week of Etisalat's new TelePresence service.
The TelePresence room in Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) will be the first such facility in the UAE and is one of 23 international facilities set up in major cities around the world, such as New York, London, Mumbai and Shanghai.
Set up in collaboration with Tata Communications and Cisco, the facility uses high definition virtual conferencing to allow users to sit across from each other in a virtual boardroom and interact while in different parts of the globe.
Companies can book the conference rooms on a pay as you go system and up to six participants on either side of the call can use the room at each time.
At the launch of the new service, Abdulla Hashim, senior vice president of business solutions at Etisalat said: "Public TelePresence is a transformational tool that has changed the way business meetings are conducted globally, especially in an era where physical realities are paving way for virtual readiness and businesses are trying to extend their reach while aiming to reduce operational costs."
