Xerox Corporation has unveiled its new, Xerox DocuMate 3460 compact colour sheetfed scanner which is small enough to fit on a desktop.

The scanner, designed to scan ID cards, includes ultrasonic double-feed detection technology and scans 60 pages per minute / 120 images per minute in duplex mode, at 200 dpi monochrome and grayscale.  It offers an optical resolution of 600 dpi and a USB 2.0 interface (USB 1.1 compatible).

The printer is designed for work environments where scanning plastic ID cards, business cards or heavy paper documents is necessary.

The 50-page capacity automatic document feeder can handle paper of all sizes and weights, from photos to business cards up to legal-size documents.

"Every day the average office encounters documents in many shapes, sizes and materials," said Dan Smith, general manager for Integrated Marketing, Xerox, MEA (DMO). "The Xerox DocuMate 3460 can scan multi-coloured forms, embossed plastic cards and various other documents at the press of a button, allowing office workers  to move on to the next task."

The Xerox DocuMate 3460 features a front-feed tray which is designed to increase plastic card scanning efficiency and reduce roller wear by up to 60%, as compared to other brands.

Bundled software includes TWAIN and ISIS certified drivers, Kofax VRS, Nuance PaperPort, and Nuance OmniPage Pro. The scanner also includes Visioneer OneTouch scanning technology, for eliminating multiple steps in sending scanned documents to predetermined devices or applications.
