Latest version of Cognos aims to make analytics mobile and social
IBM has announced the launch of the latest version of its business intelligence application, IBM Cognos 10.
The latest update, which IBM says is the most significant since it acquired Cognos, aims to take analytics to mobile devices and to introduce a social networking approach to analytics, that will encourage greater collaboration.
Cognos 10 has a new look and feel, which IBM says mirrors people's every day use of technology, and also include real time analytics, and the ability to deliver analytics to mobile devices such as iPhone and BlackBerry handsets.
The application also extends the reporting of data, to present analytics in an easier to understand format, and to make analytics available to the wider organisation, increasing the number of stakeholders that can use business intelligence in the decision making process.
"The Cognos 10 software delivers a completely new user experience, which allows users to achieve collective intelligence by connecting with others, sharing insights and establishing decision networks, therefore redefining the traditional methods of interaction organisations use with information and the way users collaborate with their peers," said Bashar Kilani, Bashar Kilani, Business Unit Executive, IBM Software Group, IBM Middle East.
