Nestlé Waters enhances data security
Water company using Vision Solutions’ Double-Take Availability software
The Nestlé Waters factory in Saudi Arabia has joined hands with Vision Solutions and is now using the company's Double-Take Availability software to protect databases and servers behind its enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.
According to Vision Solutions, Nestlé Waters Saudi Arabia needed a software upgrade that would take into consideration its need for higher availability of data as well as enhanced data protection.
The water company has three sites spread over approximately 1,000 kilometres and approximately 360 users access its Ostazi ERP solution on a daily basis for purchasing, finance and production duties. This wide distribution of offices meant that bandwidth was a problem.
"Double-Take Availability was the obvious choice for us, as the product provides real-time replication of data across the LAN and WAN environment. Double-Take is an efficient solution and it can work over networks where bandwidth is limited. We were also very impressed by the local support team that was on hand to help us as and when required. In total, it represents a particularly reliable and cost-effective solution for us to meet our business continuity requirements," said Wael-Al-Baz, IT/IS Manager at the Nestlé Waters factory.
Nestlé Waters is currently undergoing a period of expansion in Saudi Arabia and will soon rollout the software across its branches in other Gulf Regions.
"Our network is currently growing and we are planning on installing a Microsoft Exchange server in the near future to support our staff in their communication and collaboration. We will undoubtedly implement additional Double-Take solutions in order to further enhance our infrastructure and at the same time, guarantee its efficiency. We also intend to protect other branches and other factories in the lower Gulf region mainly in Bahrain, Dubai and Qatar with Double-Take," Wael-Al-Baz added.
Double-Take Availability is also designed to provide disaster recovery in case of any site failure.
"It is vital for manufacturers to invest in business continuity and backup solutions as a way to ensure their production lines remain active and able to produce the materials, foods or drinks that generate revenue for the organisation. Information availability for these critical systems should therefore be viewed as a long-term competitive advantage," said Mike Khattab, vice president of sales, growth markets, at Vision Solutions.
Vision Solutions is a leading provider of information availability software and services for Windows, Linux, IBM Power Systems and Cloud Computing markets.
