Qtel brings new 3G services to Qatar
Qtel is to provide new 3G enabled interactive terminals across Qatar in association with bCODE.

Qatar's telcoms company Qtel has revealed a brand new deal with mobile coupon and ticketing company bCODE, to provide interactive 3G-enabled terminals across the country.

These terminals allow users to scan an SMS code at the machine and gain access to a number of applications, including Qtel's Mobile Money service.

The first phase of this agreement will be in place in time for a number of exciting events, including the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, occurring in Qatar from January 2011

The easy-to-use touch-screen bCODE terminals will also allow users to redeem loyalty points, purchase mobile tickets and manage payments.

As a special added service, Qtel will provide terminals close to event zones with dedicated features such as event alerts and promotions.

The service will be delivered via regular SMS messages meaning that anyone with a mobile device can access it, including international visitors on other networks and other mobile phone network customers.

Unlike other mobile programs that require picture messages such as a barcode, the bCODE system has been designed to be compatible to the majority of handsets.

Qtel was also one of the first company's in Qatar to set up a safe and quick International Credit Transfer service for customers to send mobile credit to international numbers in countries such as India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
