Indian mobile handset giant launches several products and aims to be the third biggest handset brand in the region within 12 months

Indian mobile handset giant Micromax Mobile has entered the Middle East market. The company's various handsets will soon be on sale across the region and will also be available for purchase at GITEX Shopper 2010.

The company, which manufactures phones in India as well as through partners in Taiwan and China, will initially offer several models, including the Q55 Bling. The ‘Bling' targets female users and as such features ‘Enlightened Swarovski Elements'. The compact phone also features a swivel form factor and is able to accept two SIM cards. It weighs 75g, packs a 2-megapixel camera and includes a music playback application, Facebook compatibility and a FM tuner.

Micromax Mobiles offers a wide range of handsets including long life battery phones, QWERTY keypad mobile phones, multimedia and utility phones, universal remote mobile phones, dual-sim handsets and more.

When asked about his company's expectations in terms of market share in the Middle East, Vikas Jain, Partner, Micromax Informatics Ltd responded, "With the launch of our products in this market, we expect to create new segments rather than take away from existing handset vendors. In 12 months we think we'll be among the top three mobile handset brands in the region."
