Symantec to launch new products at GITEX

Symantec is gearing up to announce a slew of new product launches at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, with a particular focus on its security suites, archiving solutions and new SMB offerings.

In addition, the security software company will be unveiling its 2011 consumer range, including its popular Norton Internet Security and AntiVirus suites.

Symantec is a Gold sponsor of the GITEX Cloud Confex and Johnny Karam, MENA Regional Director at the company, says cloud computing and software-as-a-service (SaaS) are also major focus areas this year.

“This is gaining significant traction as an important delivery model for IT services with many potential business and financial benefits,” he says. “As cloud computing is still relatively new in the Middle East, organisations may still be coming to terms with this delivery model and how best to take advantage of it.”

Symantec plans to have more than 10 partners represented on its stand and will give demonstrations of 360 degree solution that it can offer enterprises and consumers.

Karam sees the week having a major bearing on its regional fortunes. “Last year we received a large number of inquiries which were captured and handed over to participating partners to pursue, qualify and generate sales as a result,” he explains. “We have monitored our sales and opportunities that were influenced by or took place as a direct result of meetings that took place at GITEX. The ROI was significant. We are confident that we will see the same trend this year.”
