Emitac stalwart calls time on 17-year tenure
Vijay Saraf walks away from HP distributor in search of new venture
Channel stalwart Vijay Saraf has left Emitac Distribution after giving more than 17 years of service to the company.
Saraf joined the HP and Acer supplier back in 1993 when Emitac was just in the process of getting its distribution business off the ground in the region.
At the time, UAE-based Emitac's distribution arm generated just a few million dollars in sales. Now its turnover is more than US$350m a year.
During his career at Emitac Distribution, Saraf served as director of sales and marketing and deputy general manager, before eventually becoming general manager for sales and marketing.
Saraf confirmed his resignation and said he was now keen to explore new opportunities in the market.
"There has been a lot of change taking place at Emitac and having been at the company for 17 years I felt it was the right time to leave," he said.
Saraf's decision to leave the company means that the face of Emitac Distribution's senior management structure has completely changed since the turn of the year, following the earlier departures of CEO Amer Khreino and deputy general manager Timur Edis.
Khreino's position has since been taken over by ex-Motorola VP Patrick Mulligan.
