Wipro has launched a new range of modular data centres targeted at the SMB market.

The FluidState Data Centres have been designed to be delivered in a pre-fabricated format, which allows for a rapid set up of less than one week, and a more economic and green model of computing.

The data centres include technology from Cisco, HP, Hitachi and EMC among others. The modular construction will allow companies to increase or decrease capacity without taking the data centre offline, and the units have also been designed for efficiency, with 24x7 lights out operation, four times higher density per rack, up to 40% lower cooling cost and reduced carbon footprint than standard data centres.

The data centres are built around Wipro's FluidState model-driven engineering framework, with ‘FluidState' standing for Flexible, Lean, Upgradable, Intelligent Data Centre, STandardized for AcceleraTed Establishment.

Wipro will be offering four versions of the FluidState data centres, Nano, Standard, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus, for indoor or outdoor deployment, and will also be offering related support and services.

Achuthan Nair, VP and Business Head, Professional Services Division, Wipro, India, Middle East and Africa, said: "Given the unprecedented growth in data and need for increased computing power in data centres, FluidState offers a simple solution whereby businesses can easily deploy data centres in the shortest possible time. We are excited and confident that this innovative, next-generation data centre model will be the trend-setter in flexibility and adoption of green practices in data centre design and operations in the days to come."
