Toshiba shores up channel management team
Internal appointment designed to put focus on partner sales
Notebook vendor Toshiba has provided details of Binu Thomas' new role at the company after officially confirming his appointment as head of sales for the Middle East and Levant.
Thomas - previously the company's corporate sales manager - took on the newly-created position last month.
According to Toshiba, his responsibilities include developing product strategies and managing bespoke product planning for each market, as well as ensuring the right product mix is available through the channel.
In addition, Thomas' duties extend to overseeing sell-in and sell-out of products, co-ordinating quarterly planning with country managers and responding to partner feedback.
Toshiba confirmed that part of Thomas' functions involve "central management" of power retailers, which likely alludes to the vendor's plans to drive more direct engagement with key retailers.
Santosh Varghese, regional general manager for the computer systems division at Toshiba Gulf, says the appointment is designed to shore up its channel management team.
"Thomas' background and expertise contributes to Toshiba's dedication to provide the best service and support that our partners require," he said.
Thomas joined Toshiba four years ago as regional service manager for the Middle East, assisting in developing the direction and strategy of the company's service centres and computer systems division. He also held the role of regional manager for corporate sales MEA, where he was responsible for business-to-business, corporate and large accounts and small-to-medium enterprise sales.
"My role is to look at ways to expand sales opportunities and increase Toshiba's market share in the region" stated Thomas. "Toshiba constantly innovates not only with providing quality products but also the best services towards its partners and consumers, and my role is to strengthen that position."
