Managed services demand to grow says analyst
Gartner study shows rising requirement for solutions that lower costs and drive efficiency
Almost half of businesses are set to adopt some level of managed services in the next 12 months, according to a report by Gartner.
The move will be driven by an increased desire to lower expenditure on IT systems, while at the same time increasing the efficiency of their existing infrastructure, according to the analyst firm.
However, it has warned that managed service providers will need an understanding of the markets which they are planning on selling into. In particular, knowing where an enterprise’s pain-points are, as well as their industry's expectations of what technology can, will be crucial for winning contracts.
Gartner also cautioned MSPs that there has been a sharp increase in the number of CIOs renegotiating external service provision contracts, with 60 per cent of respondents saying that they had restructured existing deals in some way in the past two years.
