Web retailer provides 'conditional' iPhone 4 warranty

AlShop.com will cover one-way shipping charges with free repairs if still under warranty

Web retailer provides 'conditional' iPhone 4 warranty
AlShop.com will have white iPhones in stock "a day or two" after global launch in July.

iPhone 4 smartphones purchased through local online retailer AlShop.com will come with a conditional warranty, assures CEO Sheriff Rizwan.

AlShop.com is currently selling the new 16GB iPhone 4 for AED 5,500 and the 32GB for AED 6,200.

"We will take the faulty unit from customers and cover one-way shipping charges. If the unit is still under warranty from where we sourced the factory unlocked  iPhone from, they won't need to pay for repairs," Rizwan told ITP.net. "So I wouldn't say there's no warranty, but rather a conditional warranty."

He also adds that the entire process could take anywhere between 15 days to a month, with customers having to fork over an extra AED 30 - 40 to cover shipping the repaired unit back.

AlShop's first batch of around 60 iPhone 4s have already sold out, and every single unit from their second batch, which is expected to arrive in the company warehouse tonight, is also spoken for. The firm will now be putting in their third order with suppliers within the next two days.

Rizwan adds there has been " a lot of demand" for the white iPhone 4 in the country, especially from women. AlShop.com will only have the colour in stock a few days after it's launched by Apple in the second half of July.

Apple started selling the iPhone 4 from June 24th in the United States, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom, but began accepting pre-orders on June 15th. The day saw more than 600,000 orders placed through Apple and its carrier partners.
