Structured cabling systems vendor Brand-Rex has extended the territory covered by its existing distributor for Africa, Magnum Connect, to include all of the GCC markets apart from Saudi Arabia.

UAE-based Magnum will now become an independent primary distributor for the vendor's entire range of communication infrastructure products in Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and the UAE, as well as Africa.

Andrew Gomez, regional manager at Brand-Rex Services, says the appointment builds on the company's five-year partnership in Africa, where Magnum has successfully developed its brand and business.

And he adds that Magnum's efforts to expand its reach in the Gulf led the vendor to extend the relationship: "In the recent past Magnum has made huge strides in developing an extensive reseller network in the GCC and established itself as a formidable value added distributor, with a highly capable and motivated team."

Through the partnership, Magnum will be responsible for distributing Brand-Rex's high performance communication infrastructure products and solutions including its GigaPlus, CAT6Plus, 10GPlus Augmented, U-MediaPlus, Voice, FiberPlus and Data Centre product sets. Brand-Rex annual sales currently total around US$120m globally.

"This partnership enables us to increase our profile and footprint in the GCC and we are committed to providing the highest levels of service and support to both Brand-Rex as well as our resellers," said Murtaza Kapasi, general manager of Magnum Connect. "I am confident that with our strong team we will be able to grow the business and secure high-profile deals in the region."

Magnum was established more than a decade ago and addresses several territories in addition to MEA, including Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The principal brands that it carries include and E-Qube Systems.
