IT distributor Almasa has added another niche software vendor to its stable in the form of Waterford Technologies, a provider of e-mail, file archiving and management solutions.

The agreement authorises Almasa to distribute Waterford's range of MailMeter software products across the Middle East and Africa.

Sajid Sarwar, VP finance and operations at Almasa, believes the product line is a strong fit with its existing portfolio of software solutions.

"This agreement not only reflects our continued focus on enhancing customer value by providing our channel partners with a wider choice of products and solutions, but also contributes to our objective on enhancing our various professional services offering to our partners and their customers respectively," he said.

"I am sure that our in-depth knowledge of the regional channel partner infrastructure combined with the expertise of our sales and marketing force will be a major contributor to Waterford Technologies' success in the region," added Sarwar.

Led by Ilyas Mohammed, Almasa's software division has moved to bring in a number of new software lines during recent months, including Ericom, Watchguard and SpectorSoft.

Ireland-based Waterford's Mailmeter product proposes to assist organisations in several areas of e-mail management including managing storage, faster recoverability, easy location of e-mails, compliance, reporting of e-mail activity and e-mail policy management.
