Vodafone Qatar adds 100,000 customers in first quarter
Qatar’s second telecom operator, Vodafone, says it now has 464,962 customers, up from 353,580 at the end of last year
Vodafone Qatar today announced that it has added over 100,000 customers in the first three months of the year.
Qatar's second telecom operator said that as of the end of last month it had 464,962 customers, up from the 353,580 customers it recorded at the end of last year.
Incumbent operator Qtel, which is due to publish its first quarter financial results tomorrow (Wednesday 21st), claims some 2.1 million subscribers, as of the end of last year.
Vodafone said the majority of its customers were acquired in less than seven months since the launch of its prepay product, Red, in September 2009.
Vodafone Qatar chief executive officer Grahame Maher said the customer numbers exceeded the operator's expectations and targets.
"We now have a substantial customer base that will help drive future performance and forms a solid basis for generating future revenue growth," Maher said.
