Fujitsu releases integrated storage for SMBs
Fujitsu x10sure IS to provide low cost, integrated storage to SMBs
Fujitsu has released its new x10sure IS (Integrated Storage), which is intended to offer low cost, high availability storage for Microsoft Windows Server 2008.
The solution, which is aimed at the SMB segment, is intended for use in situations such as branch offices or point of sales where stand-alone Windows servers are deployed.
x10sure IS is a virtualized server platform for business applications, and is available running on a choice of Fujitsu PRIMERGY x86 server hardware. According to Fujitsu, the solution can give SMBs operational cost savings of up to 50% in comparison to buying and implementing the individual components for a clustering solution.
The basic system configuration from Fujitsu consists of two PRIMERGY x86 servers with internal storage on reliable hard disks. Networked via fast iSCSI connections, x10sure software provides integrated replication for Windows Server 2008 and Hyper-V virtualization. The solution also includes features such as automatic restoration of business applications in the event of system failure.
Chandan Mehta, product manager at Fujitsu Technology Solutions said: "The beauty of x10sure is its unmatched simplicity, increasing overall quality of service of the IT infrastructure at an affordable price. This allows SMBs to enjoy high availability for all their servers, instead of being forced to select which servers are mission-critical and which are not. With x10sure IS, Fujitsu is fulfilling its commitment to continue to evolve to satisfy more customer needs, address new markets, and indeed lower the barriers to entry for SMBs to take on virtualization and storage consolidation projects."
