ITE Distribution has been given the nod from Microsoft to distribute Windows Office and other commercial software suites in a move that deepens the pair's relationship in the Gulf.

The only Microsoft software that ITE had previously been allowed to sell was Mac Office, although it does offer the full range of Microsoft PC hardware, such as gaming devices, keyboards, mice, webcams, and headsets, following an agreement between the pair last April.

The territories covered by the new contract include the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.

"ITE Distribution's clear understanding of the retail industry has expanded our reach and assisted in our channel expansion and growth," said Armagan Demir, head of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division.

"ITE's performance through the past year clearly reflects on our strategy to provide access to local outlets and retailers where premium Microsoft products can officially be available to the local consumer with the support that matches it," he added.

ITE Distribution is close to completing two decades in the market and Shams Jafery, director of business development at the company believes the latest enhancement to its portfolio will serve both organisations well.

"We will stay committed to offering our channel expertise and support to further increase Microsoft's market share across the region," said Jafery.

Retail-focused ITE also offers from products from brands such as Belkin, Iomega, Kingston, Labtec, Logitech, Palm, Symantec, Targus and Tucano.
