Givori's classic Calypso edition costs nearly AED 9,000.

Luxury cellphone accessorising firm Givori has unveiled a new Calypso collection of handsets that are designed with mother of pearl.

Givori's collection, which is inspired by sea-nymph Calypso from Greek mythology, sees 18 karat gold-plated Nokia 8800 handsets with mother of pearl cut, shaped and placed carefully in a fish-scale design. Mother of pearl is a common name for nacre, a mix of minerals that are secreted by mollusks in layers.

The Calypso collection consists of a classic edition retailing at AED 8,899 and an exclusive edition that can be bought for AED 15,000 at select Axiom Telecom outlets and Harvey Nichols at the Mall of the Emirates. The exclusive edition sports a 0.22 carat diamond solitaire navigation key, a baroque shape pearl pendant, and the option to have your name engraved on the handset.

"For the new Givori Fine Jewellery line, we drew inspiration from Greek mythology to produce a range that reflects timeless glamour, exquisite natural materials, and the romance of folklore," said Nader Mikhail, Givori brand manager. "Through our unique collaboration with leading craftsmen in England, each mother of pearl element is individually hand fitted and delicately grouped together to form one seamless surface reflecting heavenly hues. The end product is a true piece of jewellery and the ultimate fashion accessory."
