Swedish telco TeliaSonera, the first operator to commercially launch LTE, said last week it was expanding the roll out of LTE in 29 cities across Sweden and Norway in 2010.

The company said it had secured deliveries of LTE modems from Samsung which can also support 2G and 3G for the second quarter of 2010, to support the LTE expansion.

The operator said that the new 4G modem makes mobile broadband services "even easier to use", and added that Samsung will deliver "large volumes" of the modems during the second quarter 2010 for customers in Sweden and Norway.

TeliaSonera is deploying LTE in 25 cities in Sweden and four cities in Norway. The operator became the first telco in the world to offer LTE services last year when it launched 4G operations in Stockholm and Oslo in December 2009, allowing speeds of up to 100Mbps.
