Canon Middle East has officially confirmed that Anurag Agrawal has taken over as its new managing director for the region.

Agrawal succeeds Bertil Widmark, who recently returned to Europe to head up Canon's operations in Sweden.

Agrawal has been with the printing and electronics giant for 10 years, handling various sales, marketing and service-oriented assignments.

In his new role he will oversee the operations of Canon in the Middle East and North Africa, and lead the company in developing strategies to grow its business in the region.

Agrawal claims he will look to draw on his experience of the market to forge a closer relationship with partners and "drive growth" by better understanding the needs of the market and Canon customers.

The departing Widmark, meanwhile, says his successor is "highly capable" of expanding Canon's business in the region.

"Mr. Agrawal has been heavily involved in the success of Canon's growth in the Middle East and North Africa and has extensive experience in developing sales, marketing and service strategies for the company," he stated.
