WorldNet claims regional Red Hat ‘first’

UAE solutions provider becomes open source vendor’s maiden virtualisation specialist

WorldNet claims regional Red Hat ‘first’
Anuj Kumar says Red Hat is looking to develop more partners with virtualisation expertise in the Middle East.

Dubai-based solutions provider WorldNet has been named as the first Red Hat Virtualisation Specialist Partner in the Middle East, less than a fortnight after the open source vendor officially made the virtualisation status available to the EMEA channel.

WorldNet will focus on providing Red Hat's virtualisation solutions to the local enterprise market, including the vendor's new Enterprise Virtualisation for Servers product set.

"By integrating our virtualisation services with Red Hat's advanced virtualisation solutions, we can further enable our customers to benefit from leading technologies for their workforce mobility and data security, and can also help them take advantage of the cost advantages that are offered by Red Hat solutions," explained Peers Bailliff, manager at WorldNet.

As well as Red Hat, WorldNet delivers desktop and application virtualisation solutions based on technology from vendors such as Microsoft, Citrix, VMware and Novell.

To qualify for the Red Hat specialist designation, WorldNet had to complete a series of training courses to ensure it is capable of offering the benefits of virtualisation with any deployment opportunity.

"Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation aims to enable our customers to easily move applications and hardware platforms to virtualised computing and cloud computing," said Anuj Kumar, general manager of the Middle East and North Africa at Red Hat.

"We believe that Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation, especially the management components, will allow customers to use virtualisation pervasively. We hope that our Virtualisation Specialist partnership with WorldNet will be the first of many in the region," concluded Kumar.
