One of the newest names in the Omani IT reseller channel has seen its business receive a major boost after gaining premier-level certification from Cisco.

ABIT, which is the IT arm of corporate finance outfit Al-Barij International, was only formed this year, but is quickly making strides in the local enterprise market.

The company claims it underwent "rigorous" testing for its networking competency, service, support and customer satisfaction in order to earn Cisco's endorsement. The certification demonstrates that it is qualified to sell, deploy and support the networking vendor's solutions.

Hisham Hasan, director at ABIT, says the certification is recognition of its commitment to deliver Cisco's advanced technology solutions, and reflects the steps it has taken so far.

"Since our inception a couple of months ago, we have enhanced our focus in our chosen vertical markets, in particular, utilities and customer-facing organisations," said Hasan.

"We have also developed new opportunities with some blue chip companies in the midmarket and the enterprise space, and have taken a lead position in unified communications. With solid commitment to our partnership with Cisco, we will be steadfast in our focus on developing market opportunities in unified communications, security, wireless and vertical-tailored solutions," he added.

Muscat-based ABIT provides a range of network infrastructure, unified communications, security, disaster recovery and enterprise software solutions.
