Founder searches for distie partners

Chinese hardware and software manufacturer Founder Technology is making its second appearance at GITEX Technology Week, however this year is its first outing at the show since it opened its Middle East office in Dubai.

The company now feels it is in a stronger position at the show given its permanent base in the region. Founder Technology is now looking for distribution partners to help it market its products more effectively across the vast Middle East market.

“GITEX is the best way to meet customers in the region face to face,” says Jim Chow, Dubai branch Sales Manager, Founder Technology.

“Since we opened the office in Deira we have also been able to travel around the region. We are looking for distribution partners and we have already acquired some good leads,” says Chow. “There has been a lot of interest from Iran and Saudi Arabia in particular. These are two of the key markets in the region given their sheer size.”

Founder, which is owned by the Chinese Government, has a market share of 13.9% in its domestic market and is now looking for ways of replicating this success internationally.

“The main focus for the Middle East business will be desktop PCs and laptops although we can provide the full suite of office hardware if required,” claims Founder’s Chow.

Last year the company sold more than 3 million PCs in China building on its 2007 sales of 3.5 million units.

Founder’s Middle East presence includes the Dubai office with a staff of seven including technical support and after sales service, and a warehouse facility in Sharjah.

“We felt it was important to have more than just a sales team on the ground. We expect to see the business grow substantially after GITEX and we will respond to that growth by expanding the size of our staff base in Dubai,” explains Chow.
