Kaspersky shakes up security scene
Local presence and new solutions boost antivirus specialist’s profile
Security vendor Kaspersky is celebrating the founding of a strong regional presence in the Middle East at this year's GITEX Technology Week.
The company, which opened an office in Dubai Internet City earlier this year, says that it has experienced 200% growth in the region since putting down roots in the region and developing localised solutions for the market.
Tarek Kuzbari, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab Middle East, insists a local presence has boosted its offering to the regional market: "This year was a very impressive year for us in the region. Our office launch has tremendously improved our relationship with our partners, we were able to communicate with customers, and adjust our offerings in order to meet their requests - it's very important to be seen in this market."
Kuzbari also credits the company's efforts to localise its products - with features such as safe surfing controls for Arabic-language websites - adding to their strength in the region.
Highlights of Kaspersky's presence at the show include the launch of Kaspersky Open Space Security Release 2, which includes an expanded feature set for enhanced security.
Kaspersky will also look to extend its channel through new partners that it hopes to identify at GITEX, alongside a planned increase in regional staff.
The larger headcount and extended channel are vital for Kaspersky to be able to offer stronger support for the region, says Kuzbari, and also to implement another of its new offerings announced at the show, Service Level Agreements for business clients. Kaspersky is offering various levels of SLA, depending on the requirements of the customers. Kuzbari says that the introduction of the service forms a vital part of its portfolio.
"When we look at security, it is not just about providing a product, it is about sharing experience, and supporting customers and partners," he says.
