Dell offers modular services to regional clients

Clients in the Middle East will now be able to purchase a selection of hosted services from Dell following the launch of its modular services portfolio.
The offering marks Dell's first regional foray into a software as a service (SaaS) field that is growing in significance.
Three main services areas will initially be available to enterprises in the Middle East. This includes distributed device management; remote infrastructure monitoring; and continuity and compliance management, which is heavily focused on e-mail usage. Alastair McFadzean, Business Manager Data Centre Solutions at Dell EMEA, insists that the new services offering gives customers full flexibility.
"The reason we call it modular services is actually quite self-explanatory," he says. "It means that you don't have to take the whole portfolio; you can actually pick the pieces of the service that are the most appropriate for your business. That is typical of Dell in as much as it is not forcing customers to buy anything that they don't need."
Dell has already rolled out the modular services offering in the US and parts of Europe, but insists a growing appetite for SaaS in the Middle East has created a pressing need to make it available locally.
"The market is maturing because this is software as a service, which is a core part of cloud computing. This is more than just a technology topic, this is actually a core business topic nowadays," notes McFadzean.
Dell insists the modular services are relevant to customers of all descriptions, from large enterprises to small and medium-sized businesses.
