Business development director lays out distributor’s channel objectives

New Mart appointment targets VARs
K Pramod Kumar Shetty will be responsible for expanding Mart’s customer base in the Middle East.

Networking products distributor Mart Networks has appointed a local business development manager to expand the list of VARs it works with and develop new revenue streams in a number of Middle East markets.

K Pramod Kumar Shetty, who has more than 15 years' experience of the channel and holds various networking and structured cabling certifications, will take up his position at the firm's Dubai office.

"The aim is to increase the revenue and market share in UAE as well as the other Middle East countries like Oman, Bahrain, Yemen, Kuwait and Jordan," he explained. "I will be looking at expanding the business through existing VARs and identify potential new ones."

Shetty started out in the industry at Bangalore systems integrator PAM Network, before moving to the UAE where he has worked for brands such as Clipsal and SMP.

Mart offers a range of structured cabling, networking and communications equipment from a host of brands.

One of Shetty's main tasks will be to develop the local channel for structured cabling specialist Siemon, a key vendor partner for the distributor.

"We are looking to build the Siemon brand awareness with end-user clients and consultants," he said. "The other objective is to get more VARs into Siemon's certified installer list."
