‘Games 09’ officially announced
This year’s show is expected to be twice as big as last year’s event.

The Games Alliance Middle East Show 2009 – Games 09 for short – will take place from October 1 to October 3 at Dubai Festival City it was announced today.

The alliance is comprised of Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation along with local game distributors Pluto and Red Entertainment Distribution. Games such as Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, Modern Warfare 2, FIFA 10 and Assassin’s Creed 2 will likely be demonstrated at the show.

“The idea behind the GAMES show is to bring the same level of excitement to the region compared to E3 and the Games Convention shows held in the US and Germany,” said Aman Sangar, Microsoft’s product marketing manager for its interactive entertainment business division.

The alliance claimed that this year’s show will be twice as big as last year’s event. Red’s Michael Wombwell and Pluto’s Rami El Hussein also both agreed that ‘even during times of recession, gaming is one sector that has continued to grow’.

Games 09 will be the second such show to take place in the Middle East following on from Games 08, which was held in the Grand Hyatt, also in Dubai.
