Navneet Tandon says Raqmiyat is making investments in its cloud computing infrastructure.

UAE-based systems integrator Raqmiyat has opened a development centre in India to expand its hosted services offerings in anticipation of a pronounced shift towards cloud computing.

The centre will boost Raqmiyat’s ability to provide a rounded outsourced offering that includes managed services, hosting and infrastructure services, information systems, software applications, networking, enterprise service management and helpdesk services.

Around 100 professionals have been trained and deployed in the new facility, which will serve as Raqmiyat’s primary technological development and outsourcing centre for Middle East customers.

“Outsourced IT services in the UAE continue to offer strong growth potential, as demonstrated by IDC forecasts of the market hitting US$170.5m by 2010,” explained Navneet Tandon, VP for ERP and services at Raqmiyat.

“Similarly, cloud computing holds much potential in terms of increasing operational efficiency and its aggressive development as an emerging technology is being closely followed by many organisations in the Middle East,” added Tandon. “With this in mind, our vision is to help create dynamic IT infrastructures through virtualisation and new cloud management techniques, and thereby enabling a simplified ‘anywhere, anytime’ self-service approach for the delivery of IT services.”

Raqmiyat claims its experience of serving Middle East customers gives it the edge over international rivals that have yet to prove the effectiveness of the cloud computing services they are trying to push in the region. It currently provides hosted SCM, HR and ERP services, as well as accounting and payroll applications.
