Pan Emirates upgrades IPT and wireless networks
Pan Emirates furniture retailer upgrades Avaya IP telephony and rolls out Trapeze wi-fi networks
Furniture retailer Pan Emirates has begun an upgrade project to enhance its communications infrastructure and logistics management.
The project, which is being executed by solutions provider EMW, will see the company upgrade its Avaya IP telephony systems and install a Trapeze wireless network.
The IP telephony systems at the company’s Sharjah head office will be upgraded from the S8300 to the more powerful S8730, to bring improved multimedia and messaging and call centre capabilities, and to also remove single point of failure and improve overall reliability and availability of the PABX.
EMW will also migrate the existing IP telephony servers to two new sites in Dubai’s Al Barsha district and Techno Park, Jebel Ali, to optimize utilization of resources.
The Trapeze wireless networks will be deployed at the same sites, a major showroom and a distribution centre respectively, to provide voice of wireless functions. Both sites will have over 150 access points, and the network will also provide warehouse management system support and product tracking. The network will utilize Trapeze MX-200R Mobility Exchange Intelligent WLAN Controller and Smart Mobile Access Points MP-422 A, and the company plans to roll out wireless networks to all locations at a later date.
Eyas Khashan, director of Information Technology Resources for Pan Emirates said: “Pan Emirates has been experiencing rapid growth and expansion within the Gulf region. Apart from the current eleven branches in the UAE, Oman and Qatar, it is set to launch a number of outlets in the near future covering all the other Gulf States. We have a centralized IT system where all the branches are connected remotely to the head office. To support our ambitious expansion strategy and improve performance, we needed to update our server platforms at the head office to a bigger, flexible and more capable solution from Avaya”.
Serjios EL-Hage, CEO at EMW Middle East, commented: “We are happy to have been chosen by Pan Emirates as the incumbent implementation partner for this project. Almost all our high profile customers’ wins comprise of very complex and highly integrated solutions and Pan Emirates trusted us back in 2005 till today.”
