Quorum MENA launches partnership with WellPoint for energy ERP
Quorum MENA have teamed up with WellPoint to provide ERP software in addition to their geoscience and drilling services
Quorum MENA (QMENA) has launched a partnership agreement with WellPoint to distribute its Microsoft Dynamics-based solutions for the energy sector, throughout Middle East, North Africa and India.
The terms of the agreement will enable QMENA to sell the WellPoint versions of Energy Financial Management, Energy Broker and Enterprise Asset Management which are all Microsoft Dynamics AX-based programs.
“WellPoint software actually sits on top of the Dynamics AX ERP platform – that’s what it’s built on, so it actually integrates itself into the AX software. If you’re an end user its like a seamless set of software for your users instead of having multiple different software packages that you have to start on the fly,” said Miles Walker, CEO of QMENA.
According to Walker, QMENA will be targeting organisations of various sizes in the energy sector – from 100 employees right up to the bigger players with over 100,000 staff members.
“We are not a direct competitor with some of the very big ERP players today and we realise that, but that’s not our goal,” added Walker.
QMENA is funded by the Quorum Oil and Gas Technology Fund, a private equity firm based in Toronto. The fund invested $2.82 million to setup QMENA in December 2008 and sent an additional $327,168 to the Dubai-based operation last month.
Negotiations for the partnership with WellPoint began in December of last year and were concluded a month later. Walker explains that despite this, the company chose to delay the launch until the Microsoft MENA Global Energy forum, which has just been held in Dubai.
The partnership will be the first time WellPoint's software is brought into the Middle East, North African and Indian regions, according to Walker.
“This new partnership with UAE-based QMENA is a great platform for WellPoint to reach the Middle East market. With the support of QMENA, WellPoint can provide comprehensive local support and services to its regional customers," said Richard Slack, CEO of WellPoint.
In addition to providing management software, QMENA also operates geoscience and drilling services.
