Paramount moves into virtualisation

The regional security distributor has established a partnership with consultants VirtualizeIT

Security solutions distributor Paramount has moved into the virtualisation arena by signing a partnership agreement with European-based technology consultancy VirtualizeIT.

This partnership will mean Paramount will now offer a variety of services based around the virtualisation space including consultancy, design, implementation and servicing of a virtual infrastructure.

“We are happy to partner with a market leader like VirtualizeIT and leverage their expertise to the benefit of customers in the region. In the current economic environment where organisations are actively trying to cut costs, improve asset utilisation and operational efficiencies and are demanding more flexibility from their IT infrastructure, virtualisation is the key to achieving these objectives,” said Premchand Kurup, CEO of Paramount said.

Virtualisation has long been touted as a potentially game changing technology in the region and given the current financial insecurities many vendors and users are pursuing opportunities related to it.

“VirtualizeIT is excited about the opportunity of partnering with Paramount Computer Systems in the delivery of highly efficient, resilient and secure virtualised infrastructures to clients across the region,” said Julian Box, managing director, VirtualizeIT.

According to a recent report by Gartner Inc. in February 2009, global virtualisation penetration is on pace to reach 20 per cent in 2009 from 12 per cent in 2008. Server virtualisation management will be the primary source of growth in the virtualization market as hypervisor software functionality – key to virtualising a server - rapidly moves to hardware.
