Lexmark sharpens channel skillsets

Printing and consumables vendor Lexmark has moved to increase the skills level of its Middle East channel by rolling out a channel training programme.

Printing and consumables vendor Lexmark has moved to increase the skills level of its Middle East channel by rolling out a channel training programme.

The initiative involves working with resellers and retailers in key markets across the region to help them successfully sell and integrate Lexmark printing solutions. The vendor recently carried out a two-day pilot of the programme in Oman which featured the whole Lexmark product range with a special focus on the latest products and solutions, followed by a technical training on the second day.

"Our channel partners are critical to our business success and we value them as they have supported Lexmark to develop into a market leader in printing solutions in the region," said Francois Feuillet, general manager at Lexmark Middle East.

Lexmark says that more than 50 of its key channel partners, including names such as Emax, Carrefour, Lulu and Jawad Sultan, participated in the pilot and that the programme is designed to offer training support to its channel partner community.

This move from Lexmark's regional division comes as part of a promise that the vendor made last year to step up its work with the channel in the Middle East. At the time,, Lexmark's Antenello Cardone, VP for the CEMEA region, also stated that the vendor would be looking to hire more local channel partners thanks to the fact that the Middle East consumer, SMB and enterprise clients were showing sophisticated demand for printing.
