Six Senses Hideaway goes green with 3Com
3Com gigabit ethernet switches selected by Hajar Mountain resort for performance and energy efficiency
The Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay resort has completed the roll out of a broadband network based on 3Com infrastructure.
The network will provide high-bandwidth connectivity across the whole of the luxury resort, which is located in Oman’s Hajar Mountains.
3Com partner RAMCO carried out the installation of the network infrastructure, which includes 3Com 5500G Gigabit Ethernet switches, wireless controllers and access points. The network will support IPTV and other broadband services for guests, along with business applications for hotel management.
Mahmoud El Ali, 3Com General Manager, Middle East and North Africa, said: “We are delighted that Six Senses chose 3Com’s solutions to meet their network communications demands at the Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay. The 3Com solution was chosen because it supports bandwidth-hungry applications such as IPTV, high-speed internet connection and business applications that enable better customer service. It also easily meets Six Senses’ stringent energy efficiency requirements.”
The 3Com solutions were also selected for environmental performance, in particular energy efficiency, in line with the environmentally friendly policies of the resort operators. A recent In Stat report on green networking equipment said that 3Com was a leader in energy efficient switches, with up 60% more energy efficiency than other vendor’s equipment.
Rochelle Kilgariff, general manager, Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay said: “While we wanted to provide our guests with top-notch networking infrastructure, we were also concerned with the environmental consequences of such a project. 3Com has provided us with an eco-friendly and yet high-performance communications platform, which provides us with a competitive edge while maintaining Six Senses and Oman’s reputation as an environmentally responsible leisure destination.”
