Antivirus for Windows 7 beta released by Kaspersky

Prototype protects against all types of internet threats including viruses, trojans, spyware and spam

Kaspersky Lab has released a technical prototype of its anti-virus software designed specially for the new Windows 7 operating system from Microsoft.

"We knew the release of the new version of Windows would be a huge event for the IT community, which is why we were prepared for it," said Alexey Kalgin, director of product marketing, Corporate Business Division, Kaspersky Lab.

The preview of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7 includes an antivirus pattern-recognition feature with an analyzer that can detect and block malicious programs based on suspicious characteristics.

Together with a firewall and anti-spam filter, the prototype can protect against all types of internet threats. It is compatible with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the beta operating system, which is now available in Arabic as well.

"We have already received numerous requests from companies planning to migrate to Windows 7 and who are now testing its efficiency and compatibility with the products they use," added Kalgin.

The technical preview can be downloaded directly from the Kaspersky Lab website.

Kaspersky plans to launch a complete range of products for the Windows 7 operating system by the time it’s officially launched.
