Data capture and linguistic software vendor Abbyy signs distribution deal with Al Hosani Computer

Abbyy, a Russian vendor producing data capture and linguistic software, has launched into a strategic tie-up with distributor Al Hosani Computer for the Middle East region.

Al Hosani, known for its wholesale work with software, video games and gaming peripherals vendors, will serve as Abbyy’s software distributor for the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

“This partnership will help Abbyy to get closer to customers in Arab countries, and we are happy that we have found such a reliable long-term partner as Al Hosani,” said Lena Pospelova, VP of international business at Abbyy.

“Let me assure you that we are ready for innovations and with the help of a new distributor, Al Hosani Computer, Abbyy we will introduce significant surprises during 2009 and will take the leading position as a retail products vendor in the region. All users who bought boxes during 2009 will be enjoying free upgrades to the newest technologies during the year,” she added.

The distributor claims products in the Abbyy range, such as the FineReader, will follow what it calls the “overwhelming” success that Kaspersky security products in its portfolio have enjoyed in the previous years.

“We expect great demand from our customers and are looking forward to the Abbyy FineReader becoming the leading brand in the OCR and digital archive business across the Middle East by the end of 2009,” said Slava Raevski, managing partner at Al Hosani Computer.
