Batelco takes steps to protect critical data

Implements EMC infrastructure to protect information during service interruptions

Batelco has implemented EMC systems and software to protect critical information during service interruptions and improve its overall business performance.

“We cannot afford an interruption to our services and EMC’s information infrastructure technology provides confidence that our IT and billing systems and our customers’ confidential information will remain secure…,” commented Ebrahim Zainal, general manager, Networks and IT, Batelco.

The EMC information architecture is based on the Symmetrix DMX-4 enterprise storage system and ControlCenter storage resource management software. Batelco will also make use of other EMC software for replication capabilities and failover protection across two sites.

Additionally, the regional telco will be offered 24/7 direct support, consultancy services and training from EMC to help manage the infrastructure.

Over the last 26 years Batelco has invested $1.4 billion in Bahrain’s telecom infrastructure, including a ‘significant investment’ in next generation networks (NGN).
