Certiport signs agreement for Iraqi university to train 19,000 students in core computing skills

Iraq’s Al-Mustansiriya University has signed an agreement with US certification provider Certiport, to deliver the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) to its students.

The agreement, which was signed in London yesterday, aims to certify around 19,000 students at the Baghdad University in the IC3.

The IC3 is intended as a foundation course in core computing and Internet skills for all types of employment. The certification covers operating systems, networks, applications and the Internet.

Certiport will initially train ten lecturers from the university, who will then implement curriculum tools to train the students.

David Saedi, president and CEO of Certiport said: “Al-Mustansiriya University continues to demonstrate the leadership necessary in Iraqi higher education to prepare Baghdad and the nation as a whole to be globally competitive in the new economy.”
