Dubai Municipality revealed that nearly 1.4 million e-transactions were handled through its website last year.

“When it took four and a half years (from October 2001 to May 2005) to reach the number of a million transactions, in 2008 alone there were more than 1.38 million transactions,” said Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality.

The most popular e-services include the issuance of engineering material certificates by the Dubai Central Laboratory Department, health fitness certificates from the Municipality Clinic and the central system for passing financial invoices.

Only 15 e-services were initially available when the e-government project went live in 2001. Presently it offers 402 main services and 90 branch services such as information and transactional processes.
