WD loses regional sales VP

Peter Edinger, the firm’s VP of sales for the EMEA region, has tended his resignation

Hard drive maker WD has confirmed that Peter Edinger, the firm’s VP of sales for the EMEA region, has tended his resignation.

According to WD, Edinger resigned at the end of last year but plans to stay with WD until the end of the first calendar quarter of this year and help the firm in the search for a replacement.

“He has chosen to pursue other professional interests and plans to leave the company at the conclusion of his contract in the first calendar quarter of 2009,” explained Daniel Mauerhofer, the company’s head of EMEA corporate communications.

In a statement issued by the company regarding Edinger’s resignation WD claims that the decision to leave the business was solely his own and is connected in no way to the company’s dip in market share over the past year.

“His decision is unrelated to the company’s recent cost-structure realignments. It was a personal decision on his part. Peter will remain with WD, driving the company’s sales initiatives and assisting the company search for a replacement during this transition period,” concluded Mauerhofer.
