Mena Telecom reports high demand for WiMAX

Bahrain's first WiMAX operator says retail demand for WiMAX equipment higher than expected

Mena Telecom, the first WiMAX operator in Bahrain, is reporting high demand for its services across the Kingdom.

The operator, part of Kuwait Finance House, says that its retailers have been restocking WiMAX antennae at a fast rate, and that it plans to expand its number of retail outlets, from five at present, to cope with demand.

Mena Telecom launched its WiMAX service , which it says is the first countrywide WiMAX network in the world, at the end of November. The company is offering voice and data services for both business and home users.

The company is also offering trials of WiMAX at its branches at the Bahrain Financial Harbour; Country Mall, Budaiya; GOSI Complex and KFH Automall.
