SAP introduces Quality Program to Middle East

SAP Quality Program aims to improve best practices and standards for SAP ERP deployment

SAP has announced the launch of its SAP Quality Program, to improve standards of deployment for the ERP vendor in the Middle East.

The program, already active in other markets, will be extended to SAP’s MENA region, to provide greater collaboration between parties working on SAP deployments, and to share best practices in managing the deployment.

With many ERP projects taking months to deploy, and a high incidence of failure in major IT projects, the Quality Program is intended to manage the risks involved in deployment, and ensure that customers get the most from their investment.

Frank Forndron, Head of Quality Management for South East Europe and the Middle East said: “Organizations in the Middle East are ambitious and dynamic, and need to make sure that their technology investment is working for them from day one. They also want a clear roadmap for success which enables the growth of the business in the long-term. SAP has worked with thousands of customers to achieve just those things, and as a result has unrivalled expertise and experience to draw on and share.

“We know that a collaborative approach to quality is fundamental to success, and that addressing this in a proactive way is essential. I am confident that many customers in this region will realize the benefits of the SAP Quality Program and look forward to engaging with them,” he added.

One of the first customers for the SAP Quality Program in the region will be the Petro Rabigh oil refinery and petrochemical production plant in Saudi Arabia. The $10 billion plant is the largest integrated refinery and production facility in the world, with an equally complex SAP project to match. The SAP Quality Program will be used to bring collaborative quality management to co-ordinate with partners and the vendor to guide the project on best practices and quality.

Iftikhar Khan, SAP Program Lead, Petro Rabigh said: “We have bold plans for the continued growth and success of Petro Rabigh and understand that technology will play a crucial role in achieving our long-term goals. At an early stage of our relationship with SAP we realized that in order to guarantee maximum return on our technology investment we would need to make quality our guiding principle. This meant proactive, regular engagement with all parties involved in delivering success.

“We also recognized that we could benefit from proven methodologies and approaches which can only be gained through extensive experience of similar projects. The SAP Quality Program has provided additional focus and transparency, as well as opening up potential new avenues for further development of the project,” he added.
