UAE Web Awards 2008 winners announced

Top websites in 35 categories including finance, e-commerce, government, hotels and media recognized

The UAE Web Awards Committee, in association with MSN Arabia, Microsoft, BSA and Gowealthy.com, presented the fourth UAE Web Awards recently for thirty five categories including finance, government and media.

The coveted title of ‘best Arab website in UAE’ went to iacad.gov.ae, while Yacht-Liner.com won the ‘web of the year 2008’ award.

Paravision was given the award of excellence and AlQudurare.ae, a website designed by the company, won the award for international standards in web technology.

In the web design and software development category, 2pure.com took home top honours, while Star Portal was recognized as the best web company of the year.

Telecom operator du stood out in the competition by winning two awards - its e-shop won the best strategic online portal award in the ecommerce category, while its media club won the bronze award in the media and press category.

Pierre Moukarzel, founder and president of the Pan Arab Web Awards Academy in the Arab region, has revealed that the competition, which presently covers 10 Arab countries, will soon expand to North Africa as well.
