Buffalo announces joint venture with Advantec
The new company, Buffalo Advantec FZCO, is to be headquartered in Dubai and will address the needs of the GCC and adjacent countries.
Global solutions provider Buffalo Technology has selected GITEX Technology Week to announce the formation of a joint venture with regional company Advantec.
"We're setting up a joint venture with Advantec in order to have a direct presence for Buffalo in the region," says Kevin Vine, Buffalo's vice president for EMEA.
"Instead of having an office, like other vendors do, we wanted to have a joint venture with a local distributor, so we can get a little closer to the market that we're in."
The new venture, which will be based in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone under the name of Buffalo AdvanTec FZCO, will cover the GCC and adjacent Middle East countries currently served by the distributor directly.
Advantec director Jasem Al Roomi comments: "The partnership gives Buffalo a solid base in the region and allows a closer relationship with key local partners."
"Obviously, the infrastructure and staff that Advantec brings to the partnership will allow Buffalo to rapidly expand its business and market share in the region."
Buffalo's Vine adds that Middle East clients had been requesting a regional presence for some time. "This move is basically a response to their needs," he explains.
Buffalo is also rolling out several new product ranges at the show, including a wireless device and storage solutions, one of which - with a 1.8'' drive - is being launched for the first time in the region.
