du to showcase service portfolio
UAE telco to showcase new business service offerings.
du, the UAE's second telecoms operator, will be taking part in this year's GITEX Technology Week to showcase a range of new service announcements and packages aimed at business mobile users.
The organisation recently announced a revamped product offering for Pay As You Go Plus and Mobile Connect customers in the UAE.
Benefits to Mobile Connect users include off-peak charges on all international calls, a 20% discount to a preferred international destination and 50% discount on all calls within the Business Circle. The offers have been available since the end of July.
In August, the company rolled out an Unlimited Blackberry service, allowing customers to sign up and make use of unlimited service with no activation of monthly fees until November 5, 2008.
Blackberry owners can make use of the service for wireless access to email, calendar, messaging and internet for just AED130 per month under the 'Unlimited National' data plan, and AED260 for the 'Unlimited International' data plan.
The initiatives come after the company announced a 200% year-on-year increase in second quarter revenue to AED908 million, exceeding market expectations.
At the end of June 2008, du's mobile customers numbered at 2.3 million, constituting a 0.5 million growth during the quarter. With its participation in the US$700 million Europe-India Gateway, a high-bandwidth fibre optic cable system designed to improve internet traffic, the company hopes to offer higher capacities at lower prices.
The operator is expected to showcase many of its latest offerings during GITEX Technology Week.
