Bahrain aims to boost ICT presence

Cisco to establish an internet data center in the Kingdom along with other key initiatives

The government of Bahrain and Cisco have announced a series of initiatives to boost the Kingdom’s status as a regional ICT hub.

Cisco will establish an internet data center based in Bahrain, which will support the delivery of various services and technologies including Cisco TelePresence and Cisco’s Unified Communications solutions.

Cisco will also have a dedicated office focusing on recruiting skilled talent for the growing Bahrain and regional markets.

“Bahrain’s progressive regulatory environment has fuelled the growth of vital economic sectors, including telecoms, banking and financial services and construction. Cisco is building on this platform by establishing a strong local presence to work closely with government leaders to strengthen the country’s competitive position in the global economy and ensure its success going forward,” said Paul Mountford, president of Cisco in emerging markets.

In collaboration with the Bahraini eGovernment Authority, Cisco will offer workshops to highlight the role ICT can play in the region.

Cisco Networking Academy sites are also planned across Bahrain, complementing the ten networking academies Cisco presently has in the Kingdom.
