Etisalat goes live with Internet TV

Television content provided through an initial partnership with MBC

Etisalat has launched its Internet Television solution in the region, giving regional broadcasters the option of uploading content onto the company’s network.

Using the solution, specific content can be managed and effectively delivered through mobile phones, computers, television and kiosks.

Highlighting the use of the technology in the region, Essa Al Haddad, CEO, Etisalat said: "We believe that Internet TV will not only create a paradigm shift in the way broadcasters showcase content and customers view content, it will also create a new customer segments of the future – the online customer, the mobile customer and the interactive customer.”

Etisalat’s Internet TV was launched in association with MBC, giving its viewers free access to special programs during the month of Ramadan by visiting www.mbc.net/ramadan.

“Our partnership with a broadcaster like MBC Group through the Internet TV platform not only gives end-users a new way of interacting with media but also provides an opportunity for broadcasters such as MBC to customize and create new online service offerings thereby creating new avenues for earning incremental revenues”, commented Mohammed Al Mulla, director of Digital Media Services, Etisalat.

Etisalat has not yet responded to itp.net’s queries on the interest shown by other content providers in the region and if there are other partnerships expected in the near future for the Internet TV solution.
