October announcement for Oman's second fixed operator

Oman TRA says second fixed line auction will be completed by end of next month

Oman’s second fixed-line operator will be revealed by the end of October, according to the regulatory body overseeing the tender process.

Oman’s telecoms regulatory authority (TRA) met with short listed companies bidding for the licence on Tuesday to clarify the next phase of bidding and to discuss the guidelines for the process.

The bid for the integrated fixed public telecom licence will close on 22nd October, and the TRA expects to announce the successful bidder before the end of October.

The 25 year license will cover local and international communication services, as well as national and international infrastructure including radio frequencies for broadband, marine communication cables and transmission stations in the Sultanate.
