Microsoft and ITG launch learning platform for ME
EduWave Live platform to provide integrated e-learning and education management solutions to region's schools and universities
Microsoft and Jordanian partner ITG have launched an integrated e-learning and education management solution for the Middle East.
The EduWave Live platform, which was unveiled at a launch event in Jordan yesterday under the patronage of the Minister of Education HE Dr Tayseer Alnoaimi, has been designed to manage diverse technology needs for schools and universities in region.
The multi-lingual platform was jointly developed by Microsoft and ITG, and includes Learning Management System (LMS), a Content Management System (CMS), an Instructional Management System (IMS), and a Student Information/Management System (SIS/SMS).
Walid Tahabsem, president and CEO of ITG commented: "We are extremely proud of our strategic partnership with Microsoft. EduWave Live will most definitely bring great benefits to the educational sector in the Middle East, and we believe that together with Microsoft, we can take this advanced solution to many countries around the world."
The platform combines a number of Microsoft solutions, including Office SharePoint Server 2007, Exchange Server 2007 and the Windows platform to create an integrated solution which will deliver learning content and information services, and will also enable collaboration between students, teachers, parents and administrators.
Zeid Shubailat, country manager of Microsoft Jordan, said: "EduWave Live is the result of a strategic partnership between Microsoft and ITG. It is a combination of the power and comprehensiveness of EduWave in education and the strength of Microsoft's platform and breadth of its capabilities for delivering the next-generation of computing.
"EduWave Live is also part of the Learning Gateway initiative, which enables schools and educational authorities across the region to get the most from existing investments in technologies. A very important aspect of this project is the investment that is being made in an e-learning platform developed by a local Jordanian partner, which demonstrates Microsoft's continued support for the innovative products developed by our partners and our commitment to introduce EduWave Live across the region," he added.
