Extreme mounts search for regional director

Networking vendor looking for new regional director following departure of Chris Moore

Networking vendor Extreme Networks has confirmed it is looking to find a new regional director to run its Middle East operations, but has declined to set a timeframe for bringing a new boss on board.

The company has been forced to kick off recruitment proceedings after losing the services of incumbent Chris Moore. He had served in the role for five years and built up the firm's regional presence as well as recently overseeing the launch of a revised channel programme for Middle East and Africa partners.

Jan Hof, director of marketing EMEA at Extreme, admitted Moore's departure was "unexpected", but said the company is working to find an executive capable of taking its Middle East business forward.

"We will definitely replace Chris Moore, and we see the Middle East as an important region for us because it is a high growth market," said Hof. "We will not stop any activity in the Middle East, we will continue even more strongly."

Hof says the task of recruiting a successor is being led by EMEA VP Roland Richter and confirmed that sales chief Eddie Curran will serve as the company's senior point of contact in Dubai until the new regional director is appointed.

Moore is understood to have left Extreme to begin a new Dubai-based role at a company specialising in the delivery of IP applications to service providers.
