IBM to relocate Middle East HQ to Dubai

Strategic re-orientation will see regional headquarters detached from Eastern Europe

A report in Austrian newspaper Oberoesterreichische Nachrichten has reported that IBM is currently studying plans related to moving its Middle Eastern HQ to Dubai.

IBM currently oversees Middle Eastern operations from Vienna, along with its operations in Africa, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe.

The newspaper cites sources from within the company.

The report also said that IBM’s Austrian employees would be informed of any changes in an internal memo later this week.

IBM refused to comment on possible changes to how it manages operations in the Middle East, though over the last few months IBM chief executive Samuel J Palmisano has repeatedly mentioned a strategic reorientation of IBM within the world’s emerging markets.
